Finding Direction.!?

It takes time. It's something that I believe starts from childhood. As you and your thoughts grow you start asking questions. Those questions become the building blocks of your direction. Sometimes it gets tough to navigate thru so many different influences, tastes, and ideas. Personally I feel like everyone eventually reaches a stage where your own personal influence to yourself is stronger than any external influences. That stage sets the foundation for what you'll build. That is your direction.

After so long, artistically I feel like I am at a point where all my influences have infused and evolved into something that can not be described by anything else other than ME. In that journey I've tried my hand at so many different things. Like I've said before, some of my ideas worked out pretty well and others not so much. The element that holds all these successes, failures, and in-betweens together is that it slowly gets harder and harder to tell where your influences are coming from. So much so that ultimately it can only defined by you and your personality. I think that's the most important thing to reflect on as you keep growing, evolving, and moving towards your direction.

There's nothing wrong in copying when you start out. I think with the right intentions in mind it's a pretty harmless way to learn. What you need to keep in mind is that in each iteration of yourself / your work the copying aspect is also slowly evolving into something which is truly a melt of everything that influences you.
